Free parking in Council's safe car parks

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is celebrating four more of its car parks receiving national awards for their safety, and offering motorists free parking after 2pm from Monday, December 1 till Christmas Eve at all long and short stay car parks across the Borough.

The four receiving the Park Mark status are West Dyke Road, Redcar, Graffenburg Street, Redcar, Walkers Row, Guisborough and Dawson House, Redcar, bringing the total up to 13 for the Council.

The Safer Parking Scheme is an initiative of the Associations of Chief Police Officers and the British Parking Association aimed at reducing crime and the fear of crime in parking facilities.

Safer parking status, Park Mark®, is awarded to parking facilities that have met the requirements of a risk assessment conducted by the Police, which include measures to deter criminal activity, anti-social behaviour and reduce the fear of crime in each car park.

The Council already has nine car parks with the status, including Windy Hill Lane, Marske, three in Guisborough; Belmont House, Fountain Street East and Fountain Street West, three in Redcar; Kirkleatham Street, Redcar & Cleveland House and Seafield House and two in Saltburn; The Pier and Cat Nab.
